On September 17, 2008, the Ontario Minister of Energy and Infrastructure issued a directive to the OPA to address certain aspects of the Integrated Power System Plan (IPSP) with a view to establishing new targets with added emphasis on areas such as Distributed Generation (DG). The most efficient DG applications are largely based on Combined Heat and Power (CHP).
The OPA retained SMS Energy-Engineering to survey CHP/DG technical potential in Ontario. The results of this work will be used for the long-term planning for the Ontario power system. A reliable power system is very important to Ontario businesses and a critical factor for the development of this province.
We are using the Screening Form below to evaluate potential CHP systems. These systems can provide significant benefits to certain energy users because they combine the production of power with the simultaneous generation of useful heat. CHP is also a proven solution to energy efficiency that reduces fuel consumption and combustion emissions.
The OPA has extended the deadline for submitting the CHP Screening Form until February 2, 2009.
Please return the Screening Form to chp@smsenergy-engineering.com, and contact them at the same e-mail address for and questions about the Screening Form. Information from the Screening Form will be reported in aggregate for only; no individual facilities will be identified and all facilities’ data will be held by SMS in strictest confidence.
The OPA has recently distributed a survey collecting information about its Clean Energy Standard Offer Program (CESOP). To refer to this survey, or to complete it, click here.
