The Campbellford Generating Station is comprised of 2 plants. The original plant, Plant 1, was constructed in approximately 1920 and is the subject of this application. Plant 2 was constructed in approximately 1993 under a sublease agreement with a private power producer who has entered into a NUG contract with the OEFC for payment of energy produced. Plant 1 is a two-unit hydroelectric station located adjacent to the Trent Severn Waterway's Lock #14, and situated 3 km from the town of Campbellford. The station has an output capacity of 2.0 MW at a head of 7 metres.
Plant 1 consists of a power house located on the east shoreline and the components of the water-retaining structure include 1 stop log sluice, which is used as the by pass spillway. Plant 1 is connected to the Trent Severn Waterway via a short power canal. Flow is conveyed to each turbine through a concrete flume upstream of the power house (i.e. no penstocks). The power house is a stone structure. The tailrace is connected to the main channel of the river. The plant utilizes flows from the river of 36 CMS to achieve full rated output.
Plant 1 is connected to the Hydro One 4.16kV MS#4 F1 feeder in Campbellford.
