St Clair Energy Centre is a natural gas-fired combined cycle electricity generating facility with a nameplate capacity of 577.0 MW to be built in St. Clair Township, Ontario.

Major equipment will consist of the following:

  • Two (2) natural gas fired General Electric 7FA combustion turbine generators with dry-low NOx combustion systems and inlet chillers
  • Two (2) triple pressure reheat heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) with natural gas (only) duct burners
  • Two (2) General Electric condensing steam turbine generators capable of operating at sliding pressures
  • Multi-cell, mechanical draft, counter flow cooling tower

Natural gas is the only fuel for the facility and it will be supplied by the Union Gas Distribution infrastructure. The plant will be connected to the existing Hydro One 230 kV circuits L25N and L27N to feed into the Ontario electricity market administered by the Independent Electricity System Operator.
