Ontario's food processing sector is a $32 B industry employing 105,000 people.

This valuable but energy intensive sector accounts for 13% of all energy use by in the province's manufacturing sector. This project will start with five carefully selected plants to design and begin to implement monitoring and tracking capacity in a sector for whom energy costs are a key controllable cost.

The project will identify, install and implement suitable metering equipment and programs, and critical sub-metering points for a range of food processing establishments with the intention of creating a recommended M and T approach that can be rolled out to the entire sector.
