The Conservation Fund application process is collaborative - our staff will provide feedback and guidance to you at various stages in the process.

This will result in pilot projects outcomes that will help us build effective, large-scale energy conservation programs.

Here is an outline of the funding application and approval process for Open Calls to the Conservation Fund. For Targeted Calls to the Fund, please refer to the specific call document listed on the Calls for Proposals page. link to Calls for Proposals.


  Visit the Conservation Fund Overview page

Make sure that you are familiar with the aims, objectives and eligibility criteria of the Conservation Fund. link to Overview Page.

  Review the Funded Projects archive

Make sure that your proposed project doesn't duplicate a current or past project. Carefully examine the market segments that have already been addressed. link to Funded Projects

   Review the Funding Schedule

The 2010 funding schedule for Open Calls will be published in early 2010.  link to Funding Schedule

   Contact the Conservation Fund to discuss your project

If you believe your project meets program criteria and doesn't duplicate an existing project or larger program, you should contact a Program Analyst to help determine if your project fits with our current program development priorities. link to Contact Us

  Submit an Expression of Interest form - if requested by the OPA

If your project is suitable for the Conservation Fund you will be asked to submit an Expression of Interest. A sample EOI template can be found here. Your EOI will be reviewed by OPA conservation staff. download Expression of Interest Form
