Prince II Wind Power Project (90 MW) - Dennis/Pennefather TWP
Prince II Viewed From Prince I WTG

Commercial Operation on November 19, 2006

Prince II Wind Power Project is the second phase of a two-phase wind park developed on approximately 5,200 hectares of lands optioned for wind power development in the Algoma region within the townships of Dennis and Pennefather, Ontario.

The project area is on a ridge running northeast to southwest parallel to the shore of Lake Superior (from Whitefish Bay to Goulais River Flats). The top of the ridge consists of a number of knolls up to 350 metres above sea level. The crest of the ridge varies between 1.5 to 2.5 kilometres from the shoreline.

This second phase of the project has a nameplate capacity of 90 MW utilizing 60 GE wind turbines. Each turbine has a rated capacity of 1,500 kilowatts. Within the project site, the wind turbines will be connected to a 34.5 kilovolt (kV) collection system via a pad-mounted transformer adjacent to each turbine.

A dedicated phase II substation will transform the 34.5 kV voltage power to 230 kV. This substation will be connected to the Prince Phase I and II 230 kV overhead transmission line running roughly from west to east towards the Prince Phase I and II interconnect substation that taps on the Great Lakes Power 230 kV circuit K24G between MacKay Transformer Station and Third Line TS to feed into the Ontario electricity market administered by the Independent Electricity System Operator.
